New Zealand striker Chris Wood scored twice as his English Championship football side Millwall boosted their survival bid with a 4-0 rout of Huddersfield at The Den in London.

Wood's double extended Milwall's unbeaten run in the Championship to six games. He's on a two-month loan deal at the Lions from his Premier League side West Bromwich Albion and is keen to extend his stay in London.

Cardiff returned to the top of the second division with a 4-0 demolition of Burnley while previous leaders Leicester slumped to a 2-1 defeat against managerless Crystal Palace.

Middlesbrough, in third place, move level on points with Leicester after coming from behind to beat Bolton 2-1 at the Riverside Stadium.

Blackburn, still looking for a permanent manager after Steve Kean's departure, remain firmly in the promotion hunt after a stoppage-time goal from Scottish striker Jordan Rhodes earned a 1-0 win against Watford at Ewood Park.

Nottingham Forest moved into the playoff places with a 4-1 win at Barnsley, while Wolves slipped out of the top six after being held to a 1-1 draw by Charlton at Molineux.

Blackpool drew 1-1 at home to Brighton, while Leroy Lita's goal earned Birmingham a 1-0 victory at Leeds.
