Waratahs about to name new coach

6:05 am on 18 September 2012

The New South Wales Waratahs will be naming their new Super Rugby coach today, and the favourite is Australian-born Michael Cheika who has experience with the Irish province Leinster and the leading French club Stade Francais.

Michael Foley threw in the towel at the Waratahs in July after they'd ended their season with a record eight successive loses, and he's signed a three-year deal with the Western Force.

Others in the running to succeed him are his assistant Alan Gaffney, and the former assistant Wallabies' coach Tim Lane.
