Ifill out for up to a month

The Wellington Phoenix striker Paul Ifill is rated a 50-50 chance of being fit for the club's A-League season opener against Sydney FC on October 6th.

The club's all-time leading goal-scorer suffered knee and ankle injuries during a practice game on Tuesday night.

Ifill has seen a specialist in Auckland, and had a scan on the injuries and the prognosis was better than expected.

Phoenix physiotherapist Wayne Roberts says he's likely to be out of action for three to four weeks.

Meanwhile coach Ricki Herbert will make a player announcement today. The Phoenix have been chasing a new striker for the season and still have room on their import roster.
