Murdoch wins Indian cricket broadcast rights

Rupert Murdoch's Star TV has won the bid to broadcast Indian cricket for the next six years.

Murdoch's company will pay $920 million to the Indian Cricket Board for the rights which include television, internet and mobile broadcasting of all home international matches and domestic tournaments, but not the Twenty20 Indian Premier League.

The BCCI terminated its previous deal with Nimbus in December, three years before it was due to expire, over payment defaults.
