Farm sales and prices gained ground in the latest statistics from the Real Estate Institute.
They show 349 farms were sold during the three months ending in October, 93 more than during the same period last year.
So far this year, more than 1600 farms have been sold, the highest number in 4½ years.
And the median price is also 23% up on the same time last year, to more than $24,500 per hectare.
Grazing properties accounted for almost half of the farm sales in the three months to October.
Dairy farms made up about 10% of the sales.
