Farmers in South Taranaki and the Wanganui region are bracing themselves for water shortages because of powr cuts from the storm on Saturday.
Federated Farmers says watering troughs will run dry because some farms are likely to be without power for days.
The federation says the Hawera Volunteer Fire Brigade has offered to transport stock water and affected farmers should get in touch.
Some farmers will be forced to dump milk, but efforts are being made to minimise the environmental impact.
