New Zealand has won its first medal at the World Rowing Championships at Lake Karapiro.
Daniel McBride has taken single sculls bronze in the adaptive rowing event for disabled athletes on Thursday.
McBride, who rows in the arms and shoulders only category, fought off a challenge by Russian Alexy Chuvashev to place behind Ukraine and Great Britain.
He says he had nothing left in the tank and the vocal New Zealanders in the crowd were a huge help.
