British rower Alan Campbell says he's looking forward to another showdown with New Zealand's Mahe Drysdale at the World Rowing Championships.
Campbell finished second to reigning world champion Drysdale at last year's championships, and is part of a powerful Great Britain squad that dominated the World Cup series this year.
He believes the men's singles sculls is probably the strongest field in the regatta with so many scullers capable of winning, and concedes the four-time world champion New Zealander will be the one to beat.
Samoan single-sculler Bradley Jowitt says he's preparing well ahead of his first World Rowing Championships and is also looking forward to going head-to-head with Drysdale.
Jowitt lives in Auckland but qualifies for Samoa through his mother, and will become that country's first competitor at a world championship.
The 29-year-old regularly races New Zealand's top oarsmen, including Drysdale.
Meanwhile, Campbell also feels he'll have to overcome the local conditions, saying the strong cross-wind is always battering competitors.
He says the course itself is good, though, and the windy conditions will affect everyone equally, no matter what lane they're in.
