Security at venue 'more than adequate'

The chief executive of the World Rowing Championships says he's confident the security that's in place at the Waikato venue is more than adequate.

Police say two large outboard motors were stolen from inflatable boats parked near the lake on Friday 22 October, and a group of Austrian rowers training at Mercer, near Pukekohe, had their gear bags stolen.

Chief executive Tom Mayo says both incidents occurred outside the venue's security ring, and there's only so much organisers can do to ensure a secure environment outside of that area.

Mr Mayo says the secure area has been fenced off and security guards are patrolling the area.
