8:02 pm on 8 June 2016

A 43-year-old man has been arrested at Auckland Airport, over accusations of mortgage fraud.

Simon Lawrence Wood Turnbull appeared at the Auckland District Court today, facing 38 charges including using forged documents and obtaining by deception or causing loss by deception.

The prosecution said Mr Turnbull used false loan applications to buy 19 properties in Auckland between September 2006 and August 2007.

An arrest warrant was issued after Mr Turnbull, who was overseas, failed to appear in court.

He did not enter a plea today and will re-appear in the Auckland District Court on 4 August.
