7:38 pm on 17 May 2016

Police are looking for two women after a man was tied up and assaulted in a home invasion in Timaru.

The 68-year-old was attacked at a home on Cook Street about 11am.

Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Quested said the women stole a TV, DVD player and jewellery.

The man alerted another resident, who'd come home, and police were notified about 12.30pm.

Mr Quested said the man was taken to hospital with cuts to his forearms and an injury to his head, but has since been released.

The women were seen in a large, white four wheel drive, he said.

One of the women is described as fair skinned and wearing a black mini dress, with black tights and knee-high boots.

Police plan to interview the victim tomorrow.

Mr Quested believes it was an isolated incident.
