A man shot twice by police after he aimed a modified air pistol at officers in Whanganui last month has pleaded not guilty to a string of charges.
Wattie Adolf Kahu appeared in the Whanganui District Court this morning on 11 charges including burglary, aggravated burglary, kidnapping and presenting a firearm at police.
The 49-year-old was shot in the head and leg after he allegedly broke into a residential property.
Police charging documents showed the firearm he used had been modifed to look like a police-issue Glock handgun.
Mr Kahu was remanded in custody until 14 June.
Independent Police Conduct Authority was continuing to investigate the shooting.
