A 52-year-old man has been charged after a schoolgirl was grabbed by a stranger in Lower Hutt.

Police say two girls were approached on their way to school on Trafalgar Street on Monday.
The girls got away and told school staff about what had happened.
A man has been charged with assault and will appear in the Hutt Valley District Court next Tuesday.
He has been bailed to a private home until his next appearance.
Police are confident there is no ongoing risk to children in the area.
