Three children, one with life-threatening injuries, are in hospital after being hurt in a car crash west of Auckland.
The crash happened late this afternoon near the end of the north-western motorway on State Highway 16.
Police said a car with three children in the back was pulling out of a driveway when it was hit by another car near Brigham Creek Road.
The child with critical injuries is four years old.
The other two children have what are being classed as moderate injuries.
All three have been taken to Starship Hospital.
The parents of the children have been taken to North Shore Hospital but their condition is not known.
However, St John said earlier that two adults had serious injuries.
