Jeremy McLaughlin was found guilty in 2013 of killing 13-year-old Jade Bayliss, whose body was found inside her Somerfield house after a fire in October 2011.

She had been assaulted before she died.

It was later revealed that McLaughlin had been convicted of killing another teenager in Western Australia in 1995.

McLaughlin appealed his conviction based on the treatment by the prosecution and judge of DNA evidence and the way the judge summed up the case.

But the Supreme Court has ruled there was nothing in the arguments to warrant an appeal.
