Burglars are targeting homes that are for sale in the Hutt region to steal furniture from the properties, police say.
Four homes on the market have been broken into in Upper and Lower Hutt in the last two months, and the furniture used to set up the homes for potential buyers was stolen.
Senior Lower Hutt police constable Maurice Partridge said the burglaries could be the work of one group that knows which homes are on the market.
He said police were trying to trace a white van used in the robberies.
