Police say people posing as Microsoft employees called the Alexandra residents and told them a virus had been detected on their home computer.

They asked for remote access to their devices to fix them, as well as credit card information.

The police are reminding people who receive an unsolicited call to not buy any services and never give over control of their computer to a third party.

They say anyone who receives a call of this nature should take the caller's information and pass it on to the police.
