The men, who were both 23, were discovered at the weekend amidst snow from an avalanche that struck them while they were walking the track.

The families of both men have released statements thanking those involved in searching for them.

The family of Mr Lemiex said he was a remarkable young man who went to New Zealand and fulfilled his dream.

The police said the men's bodies would be returned to Canada as soon as possible.
