Two manslaughter accused named

Two of the men accused of the manslaughter of a woman killed while removing metal barriers illegally placed on State Highway 3 in Taranaki can now be named.

They are 20-year-old Daniel George Gavin and 18-year-old Samuel Lance Hawkins.

A third man had his name suppression continued when the trio appeared in the High Court at New Plymouth this morning.

Christine Fairweather, who was 57, was killed when she was hit by a car in Normanby in August last year.

Geoff Douglas Hart, whose ute struck the Hawera woman was ordered to serve a community sentence after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing death.

The three accused of manslaughter will next appear in court in September.
