The Government is giving $100,000 to a fund to help people affected by severe flooding in Dunedin.
The city and surrounding areas received 177mm of rain - almost three months' worth - in a 24 hour period from 3 June. About 1250 properties, mainly in south Dunedin, were affected.

Dunedin City Council has set up a mayoral relief fund to help people who have no insurance or other means of paying for the clean-up, and has given $150,000.
Civil Defence Minister Nikki Kaye said the Government would contribute to the fund, and help the council with its response and recovery costs.
"We will also consider providing more support if there's a significant increase in applications from people needing help," said Ms Kaye in a statement.
The minister said 45 people had applied to the fund so far, and the Government might lift its contribution if there was a significant increase in need.
