The Earthquake Commission (EQC) has once again delayed the completion of its home repair programme in Canterbury.
With the exception of flooding and liquefaction land claims, all home repairs were meant to be finished by the end of last year.
The deadline was pushed out to this year but now the owners of apartments and units may not have their repairs completed by the end of the year.
A update on EQC's website said about 100 multi-unit buildings contained some properties that had less than 100-thousand-dollars worth of repairs - known as undercap - and some that required rebuilding.
It said EQC might hand over claims to a lead private insurer to manage all repairs in a multi-unit building.
The update said the timeframe for completing repairs was dependent on insurers so it was possible they would not be finished this year.
Multi-unit buildings have been among the great challenges in Canterbury post-earthquake because of the differing level of damage and the mix of insurance companies involved.
The update also reminded EQC claimants that they could opt out of the home repair programme and choose to manage their own repairs.
Earlier this month, EQC announced that the home repair programme would close to all new customers on 1 June.
