Northland MP Winston Peters has asked the Overseas Investment Office to release information about the sale of a Far North holiday park to a Chinese company.

The office recently approved the sale of the Whatuwhiwhi Top Ten Holiday Park for $3.8 million to the same company that owns the nearby luxury Carrington resort.

Mr Peters said locals feared the Magnificent Jade company was planning to bring in Chinese resort workers and house them at the Holiday Park.

He said the public had a right to know what the company told the Overseas Investment Office about its plans.

Northland's former MP Mike Sabin, who now heads Magnificent Jade, said the company was not planning to bring in large numbers of Chinese workers.
