Four-year-old girl killed in crash named

South Canterbury police have named the four-year-old girl who died in a head-on collision near Timaru last Friday.

She was Cloey Mikayla Faber-Thomas, from Auckland.

A police spokesperson said the child was in an approved and correctly-fitted car seat.

Her parents and a sibling remained in Christchurch Hospital but their conditions were not known.

The driver and passenger of the other car were taken to Timaru Hospital but had since been discharged.

The death was referred to the Coroner.

The crash happened on State Highway One near St Andrews.

Police say their investigations are continuing.
