Police are still trying to establish the exact relationship between a 32-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man found dead at a house in the Whangarei suburb of Riverside.
The pair were found by the police at 12.30am today after an ambulance was called to the Dundas Road address.
Detective senior sergeant Dean Begbie would not say who called the ambulance, but said one of the deceased lived at the address.
He said the pair will be identified after a post-mortem in Auckland tomorrow.
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths, but are speaking to witnesses.
Police ask that anyone who saw or heard anything in the area between 11pm yesterday and 12.30am today are asked to contact them.
An examination of the scene will be carried out today.
