The body of an elderly man has been found floating in Wellington Harbour.
Senior constable of Wellington Maritime police Richard Kennedy said a fishing vessel came across the body about 4pm yesterday and notified police.
The body was then removed from the water.
Mr Kennedy said police believed they knew who the man was, but would not be releasing any more details until his family had been notified.
He said police were investigating how the man ended up in the water.
