A car in which three people died in a crash in south Waikato crossed the centre line before it collided with a logging truck, police say.
The crash happened on State Highway One between Lichfield and Tokoroa just before 4pm this afternoon.
The woman driver of the car and a man and a woman in the back seat died at the scene. Police said they were not wearing seatbelts.
The front seat passenger was critically injured and he was airlifted to Waikato Hospital.
The truck driver was shaken but not injured.
Police said occupants of the car were foreign nationals.
Earlier, Waikato Rescue Helicopter Trust spokesperson Loren Haisley said he believed two women and two men were in the car when it crashed.
