The trio, all in their 20s, called emergency services for help at about 10pm yesterday after they mistakenly went off-route while hiking over Ball Pass Crossing.

Police said an immediate rescue was not required as weather conditions were mild and the men were not in any immediate danger.

They were picked up by helicopter at 8am today.

Last week police called off a search for three other climbers who went missing after setting out for a day-long climb.
