Bail has been denied in Tauranga District Court on Wednesday for a man accused of murdering another man at Waihi Beach on New Year's Day.
Robert Wilkinson, 64, known to his family as Murray, was stabbed in the neck and face outside his caravan. He later died in hospital.
An 18-year-old man, whose name is suppressed, was arrested last week and charged with murder.
He has been remanded in custody to reappear on 8 March.
