Politics updates: Follow updates for the latest on government targets

All three governing parties have lost support and all three opposition parties have gained, with smaller parties marking the biggest changes, according to the latest Taxpayers Union poll.

Meanwhile, the government has announced the Ministry of Education will be required to publish weekly school attendance statistics as part of its crackdown on truancy.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is defending the announcement of new public sector targets for health, crime and education at the same time job cuts are being announced in the civil service.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Winston Peters heavily criticised the UN Security Council over the situation in Gaza.
