The Auditor General's office won't investigate how the billionaire Peter Thiel became a New Zealand citizen.

Mr Thiel was granted citizenship in extraordinary circumstances in 2011 by the government - he'd spent only 12 days in the country in the previous five years and had no intention of living here.
Green MP Denise Roche asked the Auditor General to investigate the process, but in a statement today his office said the questions she asked were not ones it generally had the authority to answer.
And official information documents obtained by RNZ today show Bill English met Mr Thiel, on 24 May 2010 when Mr English was Finance Minister.
The Prime Minister said he could not recall what they discussed.
Mr English's officials said there are no notes, briefings or any records from that meeting.
