Labour leader Andrew Little says the government has been dragged kicking and screaming into its pay equity deal with thousands of low-paid workers.

The government went into negotiations with unions two years ago, and set up a working group to develop ways of dealing with pay equity claims.
Yesterday it announced $2 billion would be paid over five years to thousands of affected care and support workers.
