On the eve of United Future's annual conference, party leader Peter Dunne says he has regained his enthusiasm for politics after a challenging year.
The conference will be held in Wellington this weekend.
After almost 30 years in Parliament, Mr Dunne says he is still excited by the potential for both his electorate Ohariu, and New Zealand.
He says he sees no reason not to stand once again in Ohariu at the next election.
Mr Dunne says he wants National to work actively alongside United Future in the lead-up to the 2014 election.
