Police in Hamilton have charged a man after a driving incident which left another man fighting for his life.
They say it appears the injured man tried to stop someone from illegally dumping rubbish by sitting on the bonnet of their car last Thursday.
However, the vehicle moved off and the man fell from the bonnet. He is in Waikato hospital with critical injuries.
Police say a man has been charged with failing to stop and ascertain injury. Further charges have not been ruled out.
