Police have laid assault charges against a Levin teenager over an attack which left a 27-year-old man seriously injured.
The Palmerston North man is believed to have been travelling home from Wellington with friends on Sunday when he was attacked in Levin, at about 1.30pm. No weapons were used.
Police say staff at Wellington hospital contacted them on Tuesday after the victim was transferred from Palmerston North hospital with critical head injuries.
They say a 17-year-old man is to appear in the Levin District Court on Thursday on assault charges, and more serious charges may be laid.
