Flights across much of the country were cancelled today due to severe weather.
In Dunedin at least eight flights, four inbound and four outbound, were halted. In Napier a further three flights, two inbound, one outbound were also cancelled.
Air New Zealand confirmed the flight changes, but said customers have been rebooked on the next available service.
Gale west to southwest winds affecting much of the country were expected to ease Sunday, while a few strong wind watches remain.
Strong wind watches were in place for Coromandel, Bay of Plenty west of Edgecumbe, Hawke's Bay south of Wairoa and the Tararua District, Tasman District west of Motueka, and the Chatham Islands.
Wind warnings had been lifted for Dunedin, Clutha, Southland about and south of Gore, and Stewart Island
A thunderstorm warning was also lifted for the Buller and Grey regions.
While no warning was in place for Auckland, Pro-Palestine protesters on Friday said they were abandoning a planned march across the Auckland Harbour Bridge on Saturday due to high winds.
MetService forecasted gusts of up to 70kmph across the Auckland Harbour Bridge at the time of the march.
Meanwhile, snowfall on the high roads of the South Island could make conditions treacherous for motorists.
Road snowfall warning were in place for Milford Rd (SH94) and Crown Range Rd but earlier warnings along the Arthurs, Haast, Lewis and Lindis Passes had now been lifted.
