A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car which immediately left the scene in Papatoetoe on Friday night.
The pedestrian had been on Great South Road and the incident was reported to police at 10pm.
Police said a car believed to be involved was found afterwards and enquiries were ongoing to identify the driver.
