Wānaka residents under urgent conserve water notice

Wānaka residents are being asked to urgently conserve water while the town's water treatment plant is without power.

Queenstown Lakes District Council made the request this afternoon because of a power outage at the Beacon Point treatment plant.

In a statement, the council said a back-up generator at the plant failed during a planned power outage.

It said crews are working to get it back online as soon as possible.
