Man arrested at Auckland airport for smuggling meth

Customs has made its first seizure of drugs found on an airline passenger, since the border reopened.

A man was arrested at Auckland International Airport today trying to smuggle 2kg of methamphetamine into the country from a flight from Santiago.

He will appear in the Manukau District Court and is charged with the Importation of a Class A drug.

Customs spokes person Cam Moore said it believed the Class A drug was sourced from Mexico and was found concealed in the man's luggage.
