The death of a man in Auckland Hospital has prompted a homicide investigation.

Benjamin Kimball-James Mcintosh, 37, was found in a critical condition after police were called to Glendale Road in the suburb of Glen Eden, at about 8.20am on Friday.
He was taken to hospital and went into surgery, but died in Auckland Hospital on Sunday, police said in a statement.
"Investigators are still in the very early stages of piecing together what has occurred."
Anyone who "saw something in the area" on Friday morning, or had information about the incident, was asked to call police on 105 to report it, or to anonymously leave the information via Crime Stoppers, on 0800 555 111.
