Man dies after 'water-related incident' at Cape Palliser

Police say a man who died at Cape Palliser in South Wairarapa had been diving in the area.

Police were alerted just after 9am and in a statement referred to it as "a water-related incident".

They are making enquiries in relation to the death on behalf of the coroner.

So far this week there have been two other deaths and a third person is missing in Canterbury in water-related incidents.

Police have resumed their search for a swimmer missing in the Waimakariri River.

The swimmer jumped into the river and did not surface on Wednesday night.

Police divers, the coast guard and surf lifesavers have all been involved in the search, which will today focus on the riverbanks only.

A child found unresponsive in the Waltham Swimming Pool in Christchurch on Wednesday was unable to be revived.

Police located a body believed to be mising kayaker Jack Skellet in Wellington Harbour on Tuesday night.
