Relieving Auckland City District Commander Superintendent Shanan Gray said police arrested and charged a 57-year-old man with Failing to Comply with Order (Covid-19) over the event.

"The man will also appear before the Auckland District Court today for breach of bail conditions.

"Police are not ruling out the possibility of further enforcement action as part of our investigation into the gathering, which was held in breach of the current alert level restrictions in Auckland."

Up to 5000 people gathered at the Auckland Domain and some marched through Newmarket on Saturday while Auckland remained at alert level 3, step 1, with limits on gatherings over 10 people.

Earlier, a 36-year-old man had been arrested and charged with Failing to Comply with Order (Covid-19) in relation to attending a gathering at the Auckland Domain and subsequent march through Newmarket on Saturday.
