NZ Post chief operating officer Brendon Main said the person was last at work on Monday and had not been in the centre since they became sick.

They were not suffering from any symptoms at the time, he said.

Anyone working on on the same shift near the person would be tested and are in isolation, he said. CCTV footage is being used to identify anyone else who may have come into contact with this case.

The centre was deep cleaned on Thursday night and would be staying open.

"The Ministry of Health has confirmed that it is appropriate to continue operations at this site, following the deep clean," Main said.

"Due to increased safety measures, we expect there to be some delays on parcels. We encourage customers to check our website for updates on any delays. "

The NZ Post case is the latest to be confirmed in the growing outbreak. A North Shore hospital patient tested positive, closing the emergency department, and staff and students at Northcote College were told to self-isolate after a student's positive Covid-19 test.

Lynfield College case

Lynfield College in Mt Roskill has confirmed a student has tested positive.

All staff and students are considered close contacts and must self-isolate at home for 14 days.

The student was infectious at school on Monday and Tuesday this week.
