A heavy rain warning remains in place for parts of the North Island - and there's the potential for flooding and slips.

Coromandel Peninsula can expect between 70mm and 100mm up until 7pm on Monday evening.
For the Bay of Plenty west of Whakatāne between 100mm and 130mm is likely, through until 11am Tuesday.
Gisborne and Hawke's Bay can expect bursts of heavy rain totalling between 100mm and 180mm between 5pm Monday and 11am Tuesday.
Many areas of Northland were soaked overnight with 125mm falling at Kerikeri Airport in 24 hours, 112mm at Kaikohe and upwards of 80mm elsewhere.

MetService meteorologist Tahlia Crabtree said a low-pressure system near the upper North Island was the driver behind the rain, as well as strong, gusty winds.
While rain was topping up dams and relieving parched soils in many places, more rain could cause significant impact for already saturated soil, she said.
MetService said power outages were also possible.
Temperatures would take a dip alongside the adverse weather with daytime highs struggling to climb beyond the teens across the South Island on Tuesday, while overnight minimums would drop to single digits across the country.
Clear skies across the country are forecast across the country by Wednesday evening.
