A man has been taken into custody after two shots were fired into the air in West Auckland.
Police were called to West Coast Road at about 9.45pm last night following reports of a fight.
No one was injured but officers were told that one of the people involved had a gun and that it had been fired.
Early this morning, the Eagle helicopter spotted a vehicle connected to the incident and it was traced to a house on Don Buck Road in Massey.
A cordon was set up and armed police evacuated a number of residents.
They have since been allowed to return to their homes and police say there is no ongoing risk to the community.
