A 21-year-old man is facing a double murder charge following the discovery of two bodies today.

Police launched a homicide investigation after two people were found dead at a property in Hāwera, having been called to the property on Manawapou Road at 2.50am today.
The man appeared at New Plymouth District Court this afternoon on two charges of murder.
A neighbour said the news had been traumatising for the area.
He said he did not know who had died but says he had seen a member of the family only last night.
"Crazy thing was I only talked to the man, the father, half past six last night. And he was gonna come over today and help me do a job."
