It is planning a protest at The Canterbury Rodeo tomorrow.

SAFE spokesperson Will Appelbe said every year the events caused pain, fear and distress to animals.

He said it was time for the government to take action and ban the worst parts of rodeos, or ban them completely.

Rodeo organisers said they take animal welfare very seriously and comply with the industry code of welfare.
