The investigation into the death of a baby in South Auckland has been upgraded to a homicide.

The five-month-old boy was found dead at a property on Sandbrook Avenue in Ōtara last Thursday.
Police said a 28-year-old man was arrested this morning and charged with Assaults Child.
They say they cannot rule out further charges being laid.
The man is expected to appear in Manukau District Court today.
Police said inquiries were ongoing.
