A man has been arrested after shots were fired in a rural district in the Bay of Plenty overnight.

Police were called to Mountain Road, Oropi around midnight where they found a seriously wounded person.
The Armed Offenders Squad was sent as a precaution, along with an eagle helicopter from Auckland.
Police say another shot was later fired at a police car, but no one was hurt.
A 51-year-old man is now facing firearms charges and will be appearing in the Tauranga District Court tomorrow.
