The insurer for the 2017 Port Hills fires has reached a deal behind closed doors following a High Court case in Christchurch.

The case involved 80 claimants who suffered property damage, alleging negligence by lines company Orion and the Christchurch Adventure Park.
The blaze tore through nearly 2000 hectares of land in February 2017, destroying nine homes, and forcing thousands to evacuate their properties.
More than three years later, a confidential commercial settlement has been reached between Orion and insurer, IAG, that brings an end to the court proceedings.
The settlement does not include any admission of liability from Orion.
Its chief executive Rob Jamieson said the company continued to be confident in the integrity and safety of its network.
"The Port Hills fires had tragic consequences and Orion extends its deepest sympathies to all those affected," he said.
"The company strives at all times to manage its network competently and efficiently in the interests of those who rely on electricity, and the community more generally."
