Supermarket chain Woolworths is recalling a range of squeezable baby food pouches after holes were found in about 30 packets in its Auckland and Napier supermarkets.

The Ministry for Primary Industries said mice infestations were found at two Woolworth's Auckland distribution centres.

Countdown said a combination of heavy rain and a mice attraction to sweet or fruit-based flavours may have led to the contamination.

All dates, flavours and batches of Smiling Tums, Only Organics and Natureland baby pouches are affected by the recall.

New Zealand Food Safety Director of Compliance Gary Orr said any food contamination was serious, but for babies it could be particularly significant.
